Guides & Troubleshooting

Camera access was blocked

Click the lock or camera icon next to the address bar, allow Camera and Microphone, then reload. On Windows also check Settings → Privacy & security → Camera; on macOS check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

The camera is in use by another app

Only one app can usually use a webcam. Quit Zoom, Teams, OBS, FaceTime or other browser tabs using the camera, then press Try Again.

No camera was detected

Reconnect USB webcams directly to the computer, open any physical privacy shutter, and check for a camera on/off key on laptops.

My video is dark or grainy

Put the main light in front of you, not behind. Grain (noise) increases in low light because the camera amplifies the signal.

My video is blurry

Clean the lens, sit at least 50 cm away so autofocus can lock, and check the camera supports autofocus in the camera database.

My frame rate is low or choppy

Add light, close CPU-heavy apps, and avoid USB hubs. Measure it with the FPS test.

My microphone isn't picking up sound

Select the right input in the microphone test, check hardware mute switches, and raise the input level in your OS sound settings. See the full step-by-step guide: Microphone not working — 9 fixes.
