Frequently asked questions
How do I record a video with my webcam online?
Allow camera and microphone access, choose your camera and microphone, then press Record. Press Stop when you're done, play the clip back and press Download to save it.
Which file format is the recording?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox save WebM (VP9 or VP8 video with Opus audio). Safari saves MP4. The format is shown under the clip after recording.
Can I set a countdown before recording starts?
Yes. In Recording options choose a 3, 5 or 10 second countdown so you have time to get into position.
Can the recording stop automatically?
Yes. Choose a time limit from 15 seconds to 10 minutes and the recording stops on its own when it is reached.
Is the recording mirrored?
The clip follows the Mirror button. Unmirror before recording if you want text and gestures to appear the way others see them.
Why is my recorded video choppy?
Low light makes webcams lower their frame rate. Add light in front of you and close other apps using the camera, then record again.
Which resolution is the video recorded in?
The clip uses the resolution your camera currently delivers to the browser, up to 1920 × 1080. The live checks show the exact resolution and FPS.
