Stream resolution vs sensor resolution
Current stream megapixels = width × height ÷ 1,000,000 of the video your browser receives. It is not necessarily the physical sensor resolution, which browsers do not report.
Frequently asked questions
What resolution is my webcam?
Start the test: the resolution shown is what your browser currently receives. In Advanced mode, the Video tab shows the maximum width and height your camera reports through getCapabilities, where supported.
Why is my 1080p webcam showing 720p?
Browsers and apps negotiate a resolution. USB bandwidth, a USB hub, low light or app settings can lead to a lower stream than the camera supports.
